2021 Grammy Stylez
When fashion and music collide it makes for an interesting moment. The Grammys was a moment that everyone got to come outside for literally. We waited in anticipation to see the stars shine and ended up slightly disappointed. There were a few standout fashion moments that caught my eye. The good, the bad, and the well you know the rest
Billie Eilish always makes a statement with her clothing and personality. What we love most is that she always remains true to her aesthetic. Both her performance look and what she wore to accept her Grammy were looks. As she performed “All I Ever Wanted” the look brought the performance to life. Her head was adorned in a black jeweled full head piece that fell down the tresses of her hair and stopped just about ear length. She wore a green over sized diamond encrusted jacket and matching baggy pants; seemed to be embossed fabric. Her acceptance fit was very a matchy matchy, Gucci pink and black floral oversized shirt, pant , bucket hat, and mask look. Even her nails matched the clothing.... while we’re not here for the brand, the look was on point.
We were in love with Lizzo’s hi-low ruffle hem Balmain dress that peek-a-booed her right thigh and let way to a simple yet stunning and dazzling single strap heel. She accessorized minimally with no more than 3 diamond bracelets on either wrist, numerous rings (but only on 3 fingers), and 3 large iced out hair clips placed at the front of her long wavy do. We love the clips because over the years hair accessories that we’ve used for decades to aid in styling or at bedtime have become an everyday accessory and in the right way.
Although in the background singing for Da Baby where unless you know his voice (and we know his voice) you wouldn’t have noticed him, we definitely peeped Anthony Hamilton’s look. He had a black and white vertical medium striped suit with a solid lapel adorned with a lapel pin we wish we could get a close up of. It was pretty large with a chain attached, but the placement was perfect and his my goodness the brim appeared to be as wide has his shoulder width... LOVE!
Da baby himself was quite dapper if we might say so ourselves! From his red carpet walk (that he created because his daughter couldn’t attend the Grammys this year)to his performance. For the red carpet his baby girl wore a gold gown designed and made by Alina Taylor Brand and both he and his mother wore Dolce and Gabbana looks. Most memorable for us was his performance look. Da baby wore an all white suit iced out shirt, gloves, shoes, and a thick layer of necklaces. On both lapels he wore Chanel brooches and the gloves had black and white jewels in them which we were all the way here for!
Dua Lipa’s initial look on stage was magnificent. A dramatic pink gown seasoned with pink crystals on the lapel and skirt. The gown fell off the left shoulder to reveal a pink crystal studded bralette and the strap had 3 hot pink Versace Medusa heads. Her onstage looks that followed weren’t as stunning.
Silk sonic (Bruno Mars and Anderson Pak) took us back in time with the deep v pink button ups with the wide pointed collars, and maroon 3 piece suits and wide leg pants refreshing because it connected to the music and was a whole vibe. They were very aesthetically pleasing to watch.
Although we’re not sure what Meg was wearing for her solo performance we were however in like with her orange gown with the huge bow in the back, long train, and slit up to her who-ha. With just a sparkling necklace and a pin curl up do she was giving old Hollywood vibes.
Cardi B always comes with the looks and we were quite intrigued to see her custom rose gold Rey Ortiz cone bra and shoulders, bustier Xena look. The fit added over 18 lbs to Cardi but she didn’t let that stop her. She wore it with style and grace and left the stage on fire.
Honorable mentions... Ingrid Andress, Harry Styles, Jhene Aiko, Chika, Beyoncé, and H.E.R.
Some questionable mentions.... Noah Cyrus, Doja Cat, Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny and a few others we’ll let you all be the judge.
