My Mamas Vegan

It’s hard to find good vegan soul food, emphasis on the vegan. I bet you, some of you didn’t even know that existed.... well it does! So as we were scrolling through Instagram one day we saw that My Mamas Vegan was having a brunch on the last day at their, now old, location we had to try it! It didn’t matter that it was over 40 minutes away. Food we love and will go the distance for!

Because we’ve never been to a vegan brunch we decided to try a little of everything. We got a total of 3 meals and 2 sandwiches to take home and try. There was no seating inside or out, so to go was the only option, but we only made it to the car. To be blatantly honest the wait was long… extremely long, but they had 2 saving graces (1) the owner came out personally and apologized and was transparent about the unexpected overwhelming number of orders and (2) the food was good! The piping hot egg and chicken on a biscuit with hot and honey drizzled all over it (you might want to catch that drool in the corner of your mouth) was beyond what Chick Fil-A is to the meat eater. Never thought vegans could have a chicken biscuit before eating one from My Mamas Vegan. We also indulged in French toast, cheesy grits, yams, pancakes, sweet potato poppers, and even a crab cake (once we arrived home of course). Tasting each dish was an adventure and not just for it to be vegan.

If you’re looking for vegan eats in the DMV area, it’s definitely worth a try. Take a look at their menu they offered a variety of choices from soul food, to tacos, and a plethora of sides.

We give them the LAG stamp of approval.
